Otumoetai sport & recreation club
Richard Kluit President of Otumoetai Football Club had recognized the need for the redevelopment and
makeover the Fergusson Park clubrooms in Tauranga. After careful thought, consideration and consultation,
Matt from Residential Design and the other user groups , (that will be making this their new home) a final design
was decided on with everyone’s briefs and needs incorporated to ensure that each group had there main
requirements met in the design.
With plenty of changing rooms for sports team , an expansive new hall and plenty of storage for all end users.
The key to this level of success was spending the time to define a detailed brief that satisfied and realize the
hopes of each group of users. The real challenge for Matt came when The Astronomical Club required a
retraceable roof so that their members could expose the wonderful stars and planets over the beautiful bay of
plenty and beyond .
The new design incorporated a large viewing deck off the front of the new building over seeing the playing
fields and the beautiful Tauranga harbour. Materials that have been chosen give this new building a exterior
that is exciting and fresh and most importantly is going to be durable cladding over the years to come.
With Titan Panel a cost effective panelised wall cladding system gives the design a robust and modern look as
the Block with plaster system giving a strong and solid feel to the building bring together the old existing building
with the new. The renovation has made a great and outstanding facility for the home of Otumoetai Football Club ,
Albion Cricket, Matua Scouts and Cubs , Matua Guides and Brownies , Tauranga Astronomical Society ,
Tauranga Windsurfers Club.
